There are three types of Ontario traffic tickets, which vary in severity and penalties. These are Minor, Major, and Criminal tickets. The more serious the violation, the more severe the consequences if you do not prove your innocence.
For violation you will have to pay a fine, the amount of which also depends on the seriousness of the offense. It ranges from a couple of tens to several thousand dollars. But that's not all. There are traffic tickets that add demerit points to your driving record. For example, for Disobey Police officer you will receive 3 points. And for serious violations of traffic rules, for example, Suspended Driving, the authorities can suspend the driver's licence for 6 months.
